George VanAlstine and wife, of Monticello, have been Lowell visitors this week, He thinks our family journal is a good one and invites it to call at his home weekly.
This May 3, 1902, Lowell Souvenir article was found on page 11, column 1:
Geo. Vanalstine, of Monticello, was in Lowell yesterday.
This April 18, 1903, Lowell Souvenir article was found on page 4, column 2:
Geo. W. VanAlstine assumed the duties of postmaster Thursday night at the close of the day’s work. No change has been made in the office save that Lewis Reprogle, who has been working as extra morning and evening, has retired. Mr. VanAlstine is "catching" on to the "ropes" nicely, and the work of the office is progressing with out a hitch or jar. -- Monticello Journal.
This March 22, 1917, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 9, column 2:
F.F. Heighway stopped off here Sunday evening on his way back from Monticello, where he had been to see his wife’s father, George Van Alstine. Mr. Van Alstine is in very poor health.
This May 3, 1917, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 7, column 4:
Mr. and Mrs. George VanAlstine, of Monticello, stopped off here a few minutes Saturday evening on their way to visit their daughter, Mrs. F.F. Heighway, at Crown Point. Mr. VanAlstine, who had been in poor health, is improving.
Note: Although the date printed at the top of the paper was "May 3, 1917," someone had had written the date "Apr. 26, 1917" at the top of the page, as thought this were the correct date for the paper.
The West Creek Cemetery records at the Lowell Public Library show that George W..VanAlstine (Feb. 12, 1845-Jan. 27, 1926) was buried at site S4.
