Former Resident Passes Away
The funeral services of Albert M. Kenyon were held at the Chittenden undertaking parlors of this city last Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock the Rev. Z.O. Doward, pastor of the Christian church officiating.
Mr. Kenyon was born in Indiana, October 15, 1839, and passed away in this city December 12, 1919, at the age of 80 years, one month and 28 days. He was married to Miss Anna Foote, a prominent school teacher of Lowell, Lake Co., Indiana, June, 1866. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Ora Nuchles, of Santa Rosa, New Mexico, and Mrs. Lora Patton, of Seattle, and one son Fred A. Kenyon, of Seattle. His wife, two daughters, one son and nine grand-children survive him.
In the fall of 1861 he enlisted in Company C, 66 Regt., Ill., Vol. Inf. His command was sent to the Western Department. He participated in the battles of Ft.Donaldson, Shiloh and two at Corinth. At Ft. Donaldson he was forced by the enemy to remain several days without food. He was injured in the battle of Shiloh and was discharged from service in the spring of 1863 on surgeon's certificate of disability.
Mr. Kenyon held several responsible positions of trust, and during his early life he was quite prominent in politics. He was a man of sterling qualities and had an amiable happy disposition. He always greeted his friends with a smile and a word that led all with whom he came in contact to love him. He was an excellent father and a true husband, a loyal citizen of his country and was a blessing to the community in which he lived.
His body was buried in the Kent cemetery and now rests beneath the beautiful floral design that were tokens of the high esteem in which he was held by those who knew him best.-- Kent (Washington) Advertiser-Journal
The deceased lived in Lowell many years ago and will be remembered by a great many of our older citizens.
