Charles N. Morgan (1841-1927)

Charles N. Morgan, who has been in poor health for some time, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walton Smith, at Crown Point, on Monday evening, February 28th, at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 1 day. Mrs. Morgan died December 12, 1921, since which time he has made his home most of the time with his daughter.

He was born in Laporte county, Indiana, December 27, 1841. His parents died when he was a small boy. He was married to Mrs. Nancy Drury in 1867. To this union three children were born -- Mrs. Walton Smith, of Crown Point; Mrs. Emory Smith, of Gilmore City, Iowa; and one son William, died May 11, 1911. There are also six grand-children and three great-grand-children to mourn his demise.

The funeral was held at the home of his daughter Mrs. Walton Smith, Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. G.B. Jones, pastor of the Crown Point M.E. church, preached the funeral sermon. Interment was made in the West Creek cemetery in charge of Undertakers Linton and Son.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Virgil Smith and sister Mrs. Rowe, of St. Joseph, Mich.; Harry Smith, of Chicago; and Mrs. Bert Dewey , of Whiting, Ind.
