According to an Internet database on Illinois veterans of the Civil War, Charles A. Reed was a private in Company G of the 9th Illinois Cavalry. His residence at the time of enlistment was in Lake County, Indiana. The Three Creeks Monument shows a C.H. Reed in the 9th Illinois Cavalry. Probably these refer to the same man, especially since the G.B. Reed listed on the monument also shows up in the Illinois database as a George B. Reed from Lake County, who is also in Company G of the 9th Illinois Cavalry.
