She was united in marriage to James Spading, November 21, 1867. To this union nine children were born -- two dying in infancy and four in young womanhood. Mr. Spalding passed away in 1914. Of the immediate family, one son, Frank Spalding, of Franklin Park, Ill., and two daughters, Grace Nicholson, of Gary and Lulu Hale, of Grant Park, Ill., three grandchildren, Wayne Spalding of Goodwell, Oklahoma, Margaret Hale, and Phyllis Nicholson; three sisters, Mrs. Mahlon Hathaway of Roanoke, Ind., Mrs. William Hewitt, of Rosemae, Canada, and Mrs. Mary Rohr, of Chicago, and numerous other relatives and friends remain to mourn her passing.
When a young woman she united with the Grant Park M.E. Church. All her life she felt a keen interest in religious work. In later years the radio sermon was her comfort and inspiration.
Funeral services were held at the Weaver and Son funeral home Saturday afternoon. Dr. Roe, of Momence, conducted the services. Interment was made in the family lot in Lowell cemetery in charge of Weaver and Son.
