He was married to Sarah Sautter, May 16, 1906. About this time he came to Nebraska where he has continued to reside until his death.
Mr. Grimes was a man of unimpeachable character. His word was as good as his note. Clean cut in his convictions of right, he always registered on the right side of moral questions. He was a carpenter by trade before coming to Nebraska since which time he resided on a farm.
His health has not been the best for the past number of years, especially during the past two years; having been able to leave the farm but a few times during that period.
He was converted and united with the Methodist church soon after going to Nebraska and remained a faithful member since.
Besides his wife, Mr. Grimes leaves to mourn his loss, two brothers, Matt Grimes of Momence, and John Grimes of this vicinity; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Spalding, of Crown Point; Mrs. Hewitt, of Rosemae, Canada; Mrs. Rohr, of Villa Park; and Mrs. Mahlon Hathaway, of Roanoke, Ind., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at the Big Springs, Nebraska, Methodist church, the Rev. W.H. Shoaf officiating. Interment was made in the Big Springs cemetery. -- Grant Park, Ill., Anchor.
The deceased was well known to a great many of our people having lived west of town for many years. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of their many friends here at their old home.
