An article listing all the men in Cedar Creek, West Creek and Eagle Creek Townships who were drafted into the army the previous Friday was in the July 26, 1917, issue of the Lowell Tribune (page 8, columns 4-6). Among the men listed from Cedar Creek Township was Arthur Albert Miller. He was given the serial number 1667 and was the 3638th person on the draft list.
This March 16, 1939, Lowell Tribune obituary was found on page 5, column 4:
OBITUARY
Arthur Albert Miller, son of August and Ellen Miller, was born May 8, 1894, in Cedar Creek township, and passed away at the Methodist hospital in Gary, March 4th at the age of 44 years, 9 months and 16 days. His entire life was spent in this section, and he was a graduate of Lowell High school.
On December 5, 1917 he was united in marriage to Alice Barber, who departed this life June 29, 1931.
On October 30, 1932 he was again united in marriage to Gladys Ingram, and to this union was born two children.
Arthur was a member of the Lowell M.E. church and has always been interested in its welfare. He has always enjoyed raising good livestock, and everything connected with farming, which occupation he has always followed.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his loving wife, Gladys, two sons--Dale and Randall; his aged father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. August Miller; one brother, Walter Miller and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Stahl and Mrs. Lucile Rudolph, all of Lowell; also four nieces and five nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Weaver funeral home, with E.L. Worley in charge, assisted by Rev. Milnes. Interment in the Plum Grove cemetery in charge of Weaver and Son.
