Pfc. Milford Steuer has been transferred from the military police to the Quartermaster's department. "Millie" will still remain at Camp Breckenridge, Ky., where he has been stationed for some time.

This Lowell Tribune article was found in the January 18, 1945, issue (page 7, column 2):

Pvt. Arnold, another son of the Steuers, is now taking infantry training at Camp Robinson, Ark.

A July 19, 1945, Lowell Tribune article (page 2, column 1) mentions that Cpl. Milford Steuer was on furlough from Camp Atterbury.

BROWNELL - STEUER
A quiet wedding was solemnized at the Methodist parsonage, Crown Point, last Saturday, Aug. 18, when Cpl. Milford Steuer, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Steuer of Cedar Lake, and Miss Betty Brownell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy C. Brownell, were united in marriage by Rev. J.J. Bailey, pastor.
The young couple were attended by S/Sgt. John Ewer and Miss Florence Steuer, sister of the groom.
The bride is a graduate of Lowell high school with the class of 1938, and for the past two years has held a position with the Lowell ration board. The groom, a graduate of Crown Point high school with the class of 1936, is now a member of the army, stationed at Ft. Benjamin Harrison at the present time.
The young couple are now receiving the congratulations of their many friends.

Cpl. Milford Steuer was discharged at Camp Atterbury on Saturday. In the army over three years, "Millie" has been guarding prisoners at Fort Benj. Harrison for some time.

Milford C. "Millie" Steuer, age 75, of Lowell, passed away Fri., Aug. 6, 1993. He is survived by his wife, Betty Steuer; two daughters, Debra Steuer of Columbus, Ohio, and Sue (Glen, Sr.) Hutton of Lowell; two grandchildren, Tim Hutton and Glen Hutton, Jr., both of Lowell; four brothers, Robert (Edna) Steuer of St. John, Arnold (Lorraine) Steuer of Crown Point, Irvin (Della) Steuer of Cedar Lake, and Richard Steuer of Texas; two sisters, Betty Lou (Ray) Pigg of Crown Point and Florence Burch of Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 9 at Sheets Funeral Home, Lowell, with Pastor Terry Owen officiating. Interment followed at Lowell Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was held from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Aug. 8 at the funeral home. Milford Steuer was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Colfax Masonic Lodge 378 of Lowell and American Legion Post 101 of Lowell, and a retired member of the Bricklayer's Union.
