At the last strains of "The Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin" by Wagner, played by the bride's sister, Mrs. O.C. Harper, of Dallas, Texas, died away, vows uniting the couple were read by the Rev. Martin J. Magar, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends gathered in the Fleming home. Robert Harper, of Chicago, accompanied by Mrs. Harper, delightfully sang selections from "Because" and "Ich Liebe Dich." During the ceremony the bride and groom stood in the doorway, which was fragrant with ferns on either side, facing immediate relatives, who were assembled in the sun parlor, while the guests were seated in the hall and living room.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was gowned in powder blue crepe fashioned simply yet in the latest mode. The bridal bouquet contained pink tea roses. A cousin, Miss Margaret Hutchinson, who attended her, was charming in Spanish tile crepe, and she carried a bouquet of talisman roses. The bridegroom's attendant was Harold Schaffer, of Detroit, a Purdue graduate.
Tea and bridal refreshments were served at the conclusion of the ceremony. Guests in attendance at the ceremony from Lowell and vicinity were: Dr. and Mrs. J.A. Dinwiddie, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sheets, Mr. and Mrs. Ceylon Barhite, Miss Mamie Nichols, Mrs. Murray B. Hayden. Other Lowell residents attending the ceremony were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Strickland, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Fred T. Buse, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Daum, and the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Castle, and his sister, Miss Jeanette, of East Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Castle left shortly afterwards for a secret honeymoon trip. Upon their return they will be at home to friends at 607 East 80th street, Chicago. Mrs. Castle after being graduated from high school at Beverly Hills, studied music for which she is extremely talented. Mr. Castle is a salesman at Chicago for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. He received his education at Purdue University and is a member of Kappa Delta Rho fraternity.
