This Aug. 31, 1916, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 7, column 3:
Mrs. Thuel Hayden and son, Hughie, have returned from a week's visit with relatives in Hammond and Chicago.
Another article from the same issue of the paper appeared on page 10, column 3:
Miss Evelyn and Shirley Texter and friend, Miss Edith Ripley, of Hammond, and the Misses Lila and Mabel McCain, of Chicago, are visiting their aunts, Mrs. Thuel Hayden and Mrs. John Hayhurst, and families and other relatives here.
A Sept. 7, 1916, Lowell Tribune article on page 5, column 3, mentions that Mrs. Thuel Hayden atended the funeral of her cousin Frank Allen at Hebron.
Another article on the same page of the paper (page 5, column 5) reads:
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Dunkleberger visited Mr. and Mrs. Thuel Hayden Saturday and Sunday. The young couple were married last Wednesday and are on their honeymoon trip. Russell's many Lowell friends wish him and his bride a happy and prosperous wedded life.
A Nov. 2, 1916, Lowell Tribune article (page 4, column 4) place Mrs. Thuel Hayden and her six sisters at the birthday of their seventh sister, Mrs. Eunice Fleming. Another article in the same issue of the paper (page 5, column 4) stated:
Mrs. Chas. Cobb, Mrs. T.D. Dickinson, Mrs. Dr. Wooldridge, Mrs. Thuel Hayden and Miss Lela Dickinson took dinner with their sister, Mrs. A. Texter, at Hammond Monday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Thuel Hayden and son, Hughe, and Mr. and Mrs. T.D. Dickinson visited their brother, Will Shirley, and family at LaPaz, Ind., from Friday until Sunday. Miss Florene Pinkerton accompanied them as far as Westville, where she visited her brother, Dr. Forrest Pinkerton.
An article in the March 15, 1917, issue of the Lowell Tribune (page 1, column 4) listed Mrs. Thuel Hayden as attending the funeral of Mrs. Henry Haefker (nee Ica Fross).
A July 26, 1917, Lowell Tribune article (page 1, column 6) mentions that Hughe Hayden and his parents were guests at Ina Hayhurst's 16th birthday party.
A Sept. 7, 1950, Lowell Tribune article gives the details of the Thuel's 50th wedding anniversary.

Memorial Services Today For Mrs. Thuel Hayden
Mrs. Thuel (Minnie Shirley) Hayden, 78, succumbed Monday night, May 5, to a lingering illness.
She had resided in the Lowell community throughout her lifetime. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, the Eastern Star 360, and a lifelong member of the Lowell Church of Christ.
Born January 27, 1880, she was the daughter of Steven W. and Mary (Allen) Shirley. She was married to Thuel A. Hayden in 1900. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1958.
Surviving are a son and family, Dr. and Mrs. Hugh C. Hayden of Hammond; two grandchildren, Mrs. Jerrie Callantine and Jack Hayden, both of Hammond; also three grandchildren, Dwight, David and Douglas Callantine, besides many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon, May 8, in the Sheets Funeral Home, with the Rev. Achie Mackey of the First Presbyterian church of Hammond officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Lowell cemetery.
This May 15, 1958, Lowell Tribune obituary appeared on page 5, columns 1-2:
Minnie (Shirley) Hayden, 78, of West Creek township, passed away Monday, May 5, at her home following a long illness. She was the youngest of twelve children born to Mary Allen and Stephen W. Shirley on Jan. 27, 1880, all sisters and a brother having preceded her in death.
She was united in marriage to Thuel A. Hayden on Sept. 4, 1900, and they were the parents of one son, Hughe. She, with her husband, was active in church and community activities here where they lived their entire life.
She was a member of the Lowell Church of Christ, Daughters of the American Revolution, Royal Neighbors of America and Eastern Star.
She is survived by her son, Hughe C. Hayden; his wife, Flaey; two grandchildren, Jack Hayden and Jerrie Callantine; three great grandsons, Dwight, David and Douglas Callantine, all of Hammond; also the wife of her late brother, Loie Shirley of Elkhart; numerous nephews and nieces and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Sheets Funeral Home, Lowell, with Rev. Archie Machay of the First Christian church of Hammond officiating. Burial was in the Lowell cemetery.
