Birthday Surprise Party

To surprise Esther Worley on her eighteenth birthday her cousin, Marie Worley, and friend, Velma Nomanson, planned a party one week ahead of time, so on August 13th they invited about forty-five of her friends to spend the evening. Esther was certainly surprised, but soon began entertaining her guests. Games were played out of doors and later a dainty luncheon was served, consisting of sandwiches, pickles, cake and lemonade. After midnight everyone departed, wishing Esther a happy birthday to come.

Those present were: Elton Topping; Floyd, Ralph, Frank, Homer and Hazel Cable; Celia, George, Eddie, Velma and Evelyn Nomanson; Manford and Malcolm Pattee; John and Lulu Gerner; Neil and Milford Baker; Edith and Julia Stenerson; Franklin Petry; Clettus Wells; Ralph Kirby; Charlie Westberg; Charlie and Ruth Ebert; Ruth Spry; Westly Hayden; Harriet and Thelma Clark; Virgil Sanger; Edd Nitchie; Mrs. Alma Barret; Marie Worley; Mildred Pixley; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ebert; Mr. and Mrs. Martin and family; Mr. and Mrs. Worley and family.

Esther W. Brown, age 77, of Cedar Lake, a past resident of Hebron for thirteen years, passed away Tuesday morning, August 12, 1980, at Fuchs Nursing Home, Lowell. Survivors include: one son and one daughter; M.J. Brown of Fountain City, and Eleanor (Orville) Borger of Cedar Lake; two brothers and two sisters: Elmer Worley and Joe "Bee" Worley, both of Lowell, Gladys (Ted) Gerner of Lowell, and Irene Ebert of Lowell, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 14, at the Hebron Christian Church with Byron N. Black officiating. Interment followed at Orchard Grove Cemetery, Lowell.

She was born Aug. 27, 1902,* in Indiana, to Frank and
