MITCHELL - ACKERMAN
Otto DeRoy Mitchell of Eaton, Ill., and Miss Zella A. Ackerman, of Lowell, were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ackerman, Wednesday, June 15, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. A.M. Hootman of the Christian church.Though the wedding was a quiet affair, only the immediate relatives and friends being present, a very pleasant afternoon was spent in conversation and music.
The bride was dressed in white French lawn, and carried bridal roses. Many useful and beautiful gifts were received from friends and former school mates.
After luncheon the bride and groom departed for Eaton, where Mr. Mitchell, who is a druggist, had a home already furnished for the reception of his bride, and is one of Eaton's enterprising and honored citizens and business men.
The bride is one of Lowell's well known and highly esteemed young ladies, who made friends with every one by reason of her friendly, genteel ways, and being a Christian worker will readily take a position of merit in society in her new place of residence. Her legion of friends here extend congratulations and wish her all happiness.
On the same page of the scrapbook, another article about the newly-married couple was found:
- A large crowd of friends of Mrs. DeRoy Mitchell (nee Zella Ackerman) were at the depot to give them a god-speed on their journey and a shower of grain. They were not showered with Chinese rice, but good old wheat from Kimmet's elevator, and they probably retained enough about their clothing to take a grist to the mill. It was an ovation the bride and groom should be proud of.
