The following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    C. Hamachers Mark 54th Wedding Anniversary

    Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hamacher were honored on their 54th wedding anniversary at a family dinner party Sunday, March 6, when Mr. and Mrs. Luttrell Thompson entertained at their home in Gary. Two occasions were celebrated, the wedding anniversary, which was March 8, and Mrs. Hamacher's 75th birthday on March 8. They were the recipients of lovely gifts, cards, and well wishes.

    Those present included their daughters, Mrs. Virginia Thompson of Gary, Mrs. Marcelene Schmiele of Chicago Heights, Mrs. Madalene Jones of Gary, and Mrs. Louise Matson of Chicago. One daughter, Mrs. Lois Stephens of Bloomington, Calif., and a son, Thomas of Tucson, Ariz., could not be present. Attending besides their husbands were four grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Mrs. Hamacher's sister, Mrs. Mae Gerriott of Cedar Lake, and her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Leech of Hammond, also Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bloeman of Valparaiso.
