Memorial Rites Held Monday for Mrs. Edward Poland
Mrs. Edward (Maude Jones King) Poland, 68, passed away at her home west of Lowell on U.S. 41, early Saturday morning, January 28, following a long illness.The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wayland Jones, Maude was born Mar. 16, 1888, and reared in the "Jones School Community", now Lake Dalecarlia. She was married to Orson M. King on March 25, 1908. He was a painter and decorator in the Crown Point area. They were the parents of four sons, Virgil O. of Hebron, who is Grand Patron of the Order of Eastern Star in Indiana, Earl D. of Chicago, and Jack of Hammond. Robert and his father preceded her in death.
On November 3, 1945, Mrs. King married Edward Poland. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Crown Point.
A friend to all who knew her, she will be sorely missed by her husband, her three sons and their wives, three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Madge Miller of Harvey; a brother, Vern Jones of Frankfort, and many other relatives and friends.
Rev. E.L. Worley officiated at memorial services held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan 30, in the Sheets Funeral Home. Interment was made in the Maplewood cemetery, Crown Point.
