The following unidentified newspaper article, dated June 29, 1956, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
John Maloy, 54, Canned Milk Salesman, Dies
John Maloy, 54, 233 W. 44th, who died today in Methodist Hospital, was widely-known among grocers throughout the state.Ever since he finished college he had been a salesman for a condensed milk company. He had taken a three-month leave of absence because of illness.
Born at Rensselaer, Mr. Maloy was reared at Lowell. Eight years ago he came here from Terre Haute.
Mr. Maloy was a graduate of Indiana University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Fraternity. As soon as he graduated, he joined the sales staff of the Wilson Milk Co. His first territory was at Lebanon.
Before he went to Terre Haute, Mr. Maloy was with the company staff at Kansas City, Mo.
While he was at Indiana University, Mr. Maloy was a member of the varsity football squad. In his later years his interest in sports was limited chiefly to golf.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Flanner & Buchanon Fall Creek Mortuary, with burial at Renssalaer, after services at 3 p.m. in Weston Cemetery.
Survivors are the widow, Agnes Maloy; two daughters, Misses Mary and JoAnn Maloy, Indianapolis, and his mother, Mrs. Emma Maloy, Rensselaer.

John Maloy of Indianapolis Dies Friday
Was a Native of Rensselaer; Interment at Weston Cemetery
John Maloy, a native of this city, where he was born 55 years ago, passed away at the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis Friday morning at 5:30 o'clock. He had been in ill health and his condition was considered critical at the time he entered the hospital.Mr. Maloy was born in Rensselaer November 1, 1901, a son of Mrs. Emma Louise (Eger) Maloy, and the late Frank Maloy, who died at Lowell in 1953. His father was a telegraph operator at the Rensselaer Monon depot for many years, before moving to Lowell, where he was made Stationmaster at the Lowell depot. John Maloy was reared in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School and Indiana University. Soon after completing his college course, Mr. Maloy was employed with the Wilson Milk Co., of Indianapolis, being affiliated with that firm at the time of his demise. He was married to Miss Agnes Moore of St. Louis.
The deceased is survived by his widow, mother and two daughters, Miss Jo Ann Louise Maloy and Miss Mary Carolyn Maloy, both residing at the parental home. Miss Carrie Eger of this city is an aunt of deceased and Mrs. Van R. Grant is a cousin.
Funeral services were conducted at the Flanner & Buchanon Fall Creek Mortuary Monday forenoon at 10 o'clock, after which the body was brought to Rensselaer where graveside services were held at Weston cemetery at 3:00 p.m.

John Maloy, 54, Former Resident, Dies At Indianapolis
John Maloy, 54, of 232 West 44th Street, Indianapolis, died Friday morning in Methodist hospital. Ill for the past few weeks, he had taken a three-month leave of absence from his position as district salesman for the Wilson Evaporated Milk Co. He was widely known among grocers throughout the state.John was born at Rensselaer, Nov. 1, 1901; the son of Mrs. Emma Louise (Eger) Maloy, and the late Frank Maloy, who died here in 1953. The family moved to Lowell from Rensselaer in 1903 and Frank was agent at the Monon depot for 33 years.
John was reared in Lowell and was graduated from Lowell high school with the class of 1920 and from Indiana University in 1927. Like his father, who was the first football coach at Rensselaer high school, John was interested in athletics and played varsity football with Branch McCracken when at I.U. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Soon after his graduation he joined the sales staff of the Wilson Co. His first territory was at Lebanon. He later was with the staff at Kansas City and at Terre Haute. He went to the Indianapolis office 8 years ago.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Memorial services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 2, in Flanner and Buchanon Fall Creek Mortuary in the capital city, after which he was taken to Rensselaer, where graveside services were held at Weston cemetery at 3 p.m.
Survivors include his wife Agnes (Moore) Maloy; two daughters, Misses Jo Ann Louise and Mary Carolyn Maloy, both residing at the parental home; his mother, Mrs. Emma Maloy and his aunt, Miss Carrie Eger of Rensselaer with whom his mother now makes her home.
