Tim Murchison

Tim Murchison

A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from a February 4, 1954, issue of the Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

Former Lowell Pitcher Scouts for N.Y. Giants

Local baseball fans will remember Tim Murchison who pitched for Lowell Merchants back in 1922-23 when winning was the rule without exception.

Sport enthusiasts will recall Bud Clancy at first base, Lee Cavanaugh at second, Bob Stevenson at third, Hal Kroupa at the catchers spot, Dorsey Kight at short stop and other team mates including Del Hayden, Don Winterhalter, Sanderson and "Gob" Buckeye.

Tim, who scouted in the Carolinas and Virginia for the Chicago Cubs for 12 years, was signed on Jan. 21 to serve in the same capacity for the New York Giants. He now resides at North Liberty, N.C.
