Wheeler Bryant, 67, Born and Raised Here, Laid to Rest Following His Death in Fresno
Selma, Calif. -- Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Nov. 7, in the J.L. Robinson Chapel here for Wheeler Bryant, 67, who died Sunday in Fesno Veterans' hospital following a long illness that had forced his retirement from work in the raisin packing industry in that area of the San Joaquin Valley in 1947.He was born and raised near Lowell, Indiana, and had lived in California since 1926 and in the Parlier district since 1934. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion, and of the Sequoia Mineral Society, having [sent] a few of the most unusual fossil specimens he had mined to the Field Museum.
The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Bryant of Lowell, he is survived by his sisters Mrs. Alice Holt and Mrs. Lela Lyman of Gary, Mrs. Clara Dye of Crown Point, and Mrs Ruth Tinkham of Glendora, Callif., and his adopted family Mabel, Martha, Dora, Henry and Lyda Andersen, all of Parlier, Calif. Numerous cousins of the deceased live in the Lowell area.
Burial was in the Mendocino cemetery, Parlier, under the auspices of Parlier American Legion Post No. 36.
