A March 25, 1943, Lowell Tribune article (page 2, column 1) lists Pvt.Donald E. Bixenman as taking his basic training at Camp Swift, Texas. (Note that his middle initial in this article differs with his middle name in the obituary below.)


The following article from the Lowell Tribune (Feb. 17, 1993) can be found in the Local History Files at Lowell Public Library (LH--Vital Statistics, vol. 4, page 7):
    Donald Gene Bixenman, age 69, of Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Lowell, passed away Sun., Feb. 7, 1993, at Winter Haven Hospital in Florida. He is survived by his wife LeDean (nee Lee) Bixenman; two daughters, Donna L. Kuiper of Lowell and Deborah J. (Dan) Bradley of Cedar Lake; one son, David A. (Mary) Bixenman of Highland, and seven grandchildren, Eric (Shelley) Kuiper, Jason Kuiper, Don and Dyan Bradley, and Derek, Keith and Cassandra Bixenman. Cremation took place in Florida. Born in Lowell, Donald Bixenman was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was employed as a masonry worker. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, and American Legion Post 101 in Lowell. Arrangements were handled by Crist-Coon Funeral Home in Lake Alfred, Fla.
