The following August 24, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 7 column 2:
Lt. David L. Carter Promoted
Aloe Army Air Field, Victoria, Texas (Special) -- Officials of this advanced single engine flying school of the AAF central flying training command announced this week the promotion of First Lt. David L. Carter, to the rank of Captain.The son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert W. Carter, formerly of Lowell, now of Crown Point, Capt. Carter is stationed at Aloe Field as a training squadron commanding officer.
The young flyer has been in the AAF since February, 1942. He received his wings and commission at the Lake Charles, La., army flying school in March, 1943.
Capt. Carter attended Lowell high school and Taylor University at Upland. Before beginning his military career he was with the Jam Handy Picture Service.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the April 12, 1945, issue (page 2, column 2):
- Capt. and Mrs. Dave Carter visited friends here and his parents in Crown Point this week. Dave, a former Lowell resident, is stationed with the army air corps in Texas.
