In a May 25, 1944, Lowell Tribune article (page 1, column 2), Victor L. Love of Hebron was listed as an Army volunteer. Another article from the same issue of the paper (page 2, columns 1-2) added the following:

    Transferred to Ft. Riley, Kansas

    Pvt. Eugene Black, Pvt. Lloyd Hathaway and Pvt. Victor Love, who entered the armed forces last week, have been transferred to Ft. Riley, Kansas, for their basic training.

The following September 28, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:

    Returns to Camp

    Victor L. Love, has been home from Ft. Riley, Kansas, visiting his parents, his wife, and Grandmother, Alta Love. He returned to camp on Monday.

The following October 19, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4 column 3:

    In Station Hospital

    In a letter to his sister, Miss Ardetta, Pvt. Victor L. Love, stated that he will be confined to the Station hospital at Camp Howze, Tex., for approximately two months, as the result of an operation performed last week.
