This July 6, 1950, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 6:

    To Begin Basic Training

    Lackland Air Force Base, Texas -- Pvt. Don E. Clinton, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Clinton, R.R. 1, Lowell, Ind., has reported to Lackland AFB, the "Gateway to the Air Force," to begin the AF basic airmen indoctrination course, here.

    Lackland, situated near San Antonio, is the world's largest air force base, center of Air Force basic training for airmen and women, indoctrination station for prior service reenlistees and home of the AF's Officer Candidate School.

    His thirteen weeks of basic training will prepare him for entrance into Air Force technical training and for assignment in specialized work. The course will include a scientific evaluation of his aptitude and inclination for following a particular vocation and career.

    Also among the service men who were fortunate enough to spend Christmas with their families was Pfc. Don E. Clinton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Clinton. Don, who is stationed at Shepard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas, will be home for ten days.

The following March 8, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 6, column 2:
    Don Clinton has been transferred to Chanute Field and sends his new address to Lowell folks: Pfc. Don E. Clinton, A.S. 16324028, Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Ill., c/o Base Post Office.

The following March 29, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 3, column 1:
    Pfc. Don Clinton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Clinton, spent the weekend visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reece Clinton. Accompanying Don from Chanute Field where he is stationed were three fellow service men, Bob Baker, whose home is in Georgia, Gerald Bessie of Pennsylvania, and a third guest, whose home is in New York. On Easter Sunday the Reece Clintons entertained at a family dinner. In addition to Don and his guests, those present were Mr. and Mrs. Orville Watson and family of Cedar Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Clinton and family of Lowell, Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey Clinton and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Clinton of Shelby. Also Miss May Clinton of Chicago and Chester Clinton of Griffith. The afternoon was spent in taking movies and during the evening the guests enjoyed watching movies of previous family gatherings.

This May 3, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found page 3, column 3:

    Cpl. Don E. Clinton

    Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Clinton of Lowell have been informed that their son, Don E. Clinton, of Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Ill., was promoted to the rank of Corporal on April 30, and graduated as honor student of his class in the Turbo Super Charger repairman course on April 27th. Don is remaining at Chanute Field, where he will serve as an instructor.

The following June 21, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 3, column 3:
    Cpl. Don E. Clinton, AF16324028, who is now serving as an instructor at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Ill., was a recent guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Clinton.

The following November 1, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 2:

    Promoted to Sergeant

    Don E. Clinton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Clinton of Lowell, who is stationed at Chanute Air Force base, was recently promoted to the rank of sergeant. Don, who has been instructing airmen in the turbo-super charger repairmen's special course in fabrics and leather, is now teaching a special course in fabrics and leather. Don enjoyed a three-day pass at home this weekend. Address: Sgt. Don E. Clinton, AF16324028, Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Ill., c/o Base Postoffice.

This April 24, 1952, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 2, column 4:
    Sgt. Don E. Clinton of the U.S. Air Force is enjoying a 29-day leave at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Clinton at Shelby. Don will fly to Camp Stoneman, Calif., where he will report May 12 for transfer overseas to render service in the Far East.

    Don was formerly stationed at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Ill., where for a year he served as an instructor in the Turbo Supercharger Repairman course and the Fabric and Leather course.
