    Promoted to Corporal

    Jack J. King, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Poland, who reside on Route 41, was promoted to the rank of corporal on October 5th, the same day he received a telegram announcing the birth of his son, Timothy Edward. Jack, who is a cook first class, has been in Korea since last December and would enjoy hearing from home friends. Address: Cpl. Jack J. The following December 13, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 5:

    Enroute Home From Korea

    Cpl. Jack J. King, cook first class who has served in Korea since December, 1950, left the war zone on December 5th and anticipates being home soon after Christmas to spend a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Poland, and his wife and small son, Timmy.

This February 14, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
    Corporal Jack King arrived last Friday evening at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Poland, concluding 11 months of service in Korea. Jack left Japan aboard the USNS R.L. Howze which docked in Seattle on January 26th. Jack is enjoying his 30-day furlough with his wife and tiny son, Timmy, in Hammond. He is looking forward to receiving his discharge from service in September.

The following February 21, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 6:

    Home from Korea

    Resting for 30 days since his recent return from 11 months service on the Korean battlefront, Jack King eagerly anticipates his discharge in September and being at home with his wife and little son, Timmy, who reside in Hammond.
