This October 11, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
    The Iliff's son, Gerald, who was inducted into the army on Jan. 2, has been with the infantry in Korea since August. He is currently stationed at Yong Dong Po. After graduating from Morocco high school, Gerald worked as a bridge operator in Indiana Harbor. Cards from friends "back home" will be much enjoyed. Address: Pvt. Gerald J. The following March 20, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 3:
    Gerald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Iliff, who was in Korea from August until Christmas, has been transferred to Hokkaido, northernmost island in Japan, where he is serving with the First Cavalry Division. His new address follows: Cpl. Gerald J. Iliff U.S. 55090443, Hdq. Det. U.P.S., APO 201, c/o PM, San Francisco, Calif.

This March 27, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 1:
    Mr. and Mrs. Ernet Iliff were informed this week that their son, Cpl. Gerald, who had been hospitalized at Camp Crawford on the island of Hokkaido, Japan, has been moved to Toyko for treatment. Gerald sustained a broken leg while skiing. Extensive training in the art of skiing is an important phase of the training given to members of the First Cavalry Division serving on this northern-most isle of Japan which is only 3 ½ miles from the Russian border. Gerald was recently transferred to Hokkaido from Korea. Last week the Iliffs had as their guest Gerald's buddy, Edward Klimah of Chicago, home on rotation from Korea. Gerald will appreciate receiving cards from friends at home: Cpl. Gerald J. Iliff, US 55090443, Tokyo Army Hospital Annex, 23 B, 8059th A.U., APO No. 1052, c/o Postmaster, San Francisco, Calif.

    Ed as a leg mending from a fracture which also was sustained in skiing practice with the First Cavalry Division.


The following December 11, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 5:
    A phone call made at Hokkaido Island by Cpl. Gerald Iliff last Friday informed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Iliff, that he had left Korea and anticipated being home this week. Travel however has been temporarily delayed because of the typhoon.
