James Elton Little (1904-1973)
- J.E. Little, steller performer of the varsity track team in the mile and two mile runs, comes from a family which has contributed greatly to Purdue's athletics, it has recently been disclosed. Little, who is a sophomore, will be a mainstay for the Boilermakers in the state track meet here next Saturday. James Little, Sr., of the class of 1890, was a prominent Purdue athlete, having taken part in class football and other branches of sports at the University. He married after graduation, and the first of his progeny to appear on the campus was Joseph, who developed into the steller cross county man, winning his major "P" in this sport. S.S. Little, better known at Purdue as "Doc" Little, followed his brother's footsteps, went out for the cross county team, and won a "P" in this sport. Hester, a daughter, next entered school, and distinguished herself as a co-ed athlete, particularly in hiking. James, in school at the present time, bids fair to eclipse the records of his relatives. Coach O'Connor, of the Purdue track team, regards Little as one of his best performers, and he is known by his teammates as one of the hardest working and most conscientious members of the squad. Purdue's hopes in the mile and the two mile run depends greatly on Little, and those closely acquainted with him feel sure that he will "come through" and add further laurels to an already famous athletic family -- Purdue Exponent

LITTLE - KENNAN
James Elton Little was married to Miss Helen Marian Kennan, of Vinton, Iowa, last Sunday, June 23rd, at one-o'clock in the Presbyterian church by Rev. Cornelius Baker in the presence of just immediate families of both contracting parties. The church was beautifully decorated with ferns and blue and white June blossoms. The wedding march was played by Mrs. Ellis Brekin from Loehengrin march [sic]. The bride entered on the arm of Dr. C.W. Baldridge, of Iowa City and wore a beige colored georgett ensemble dress and carried a bouquet of bridal roses and lilies of the valley. Miss Hester Little, sister of the groom, was maid of honor and carried a bouquet of pink roses. Mr. Richard Howkinson was best man. Mrs. R.J. Allen, cousin of the bride, sang "At Dawning" and "I Love You Truly."After the ceremony a delicious three course luncheon was served at a nearby tea room.
Mrs. Little graduated from Vinton High School. She took nurses' training at Iowa City. In June 1928 she graduated from the University of Michigan, receiving her B.S. degree. She has been doing public health nursing at Logansport, Ind., the past year.
Mr. Little received his B.S. and M. degrees from Purdue University. While attending school he was a star track man. He belongs to the Delta Alpha Pi fraternity. At present he is County Agricultural Agent at Logansport, Ind.
They will be at home to their friends at Logansport, Ind., after a honey moon trip in Canada, where they will attend a nurses and county agents convention and visit points of interest along the way.
Mr. Little is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. James Little of West Creek, and Mrs. Little is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Kennan of Vinton, Iowa.
The many friends of the groom here at his home extend best wishes and congratulations.

TWIN CALVES BORN TWO DAYS APART
Mayflower of West Creek, a cow from the herd of West Creek Angus Farms, owned by James E. Little and Sons, gave birth to twin calves last week. Unusual circumstance concerning the big event was that a bull calf was born at 3 pm. Tuesday, and 48 hours later a heifer calf arrived.Both offspring are doing fine. They are Mayflower's first twins. However, she has had two calves previously.
