John Pearce (1842-1928)

The following November 1, 1928, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 7, column 6:
John Pearce was born in Eagle Creek township, Lake county, Ind., on January 11, 1842. He died on October 15, 1928, at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 4 days.

The deceased was a pioneer farmer of Lake county, knew no home other than the farm which he occupied at the time of his death. His father, Michael Pearce, moved to Lake county from Ohio about 1839 and died at the age of 53 years, leaving John, who was then 18 years old, to care for a large family of children.

On September 9, 1867, he was married to Elizabeth Foster, of Crown Point, Indiana. Five children were born to them, three of whom died in infancy. His wife, Elizabeth, passed away eight years ago, and his daughter, Florence Ross, and son, J.M. Pearce, are left to mourn their loss, together with Anna Kuehl. Ellen Kinzie Hogan, also a member of the family at one time, passed away several years ago.
