Elizabeth Victoria Foster Pearce (1839-1920)

- Elizabeth Victoria Foster, daughter of Frederick and Betsy Foster, was born August 29, 1839, in Susquehanna county, Pennsylvania, and died at her home near Lowell April 4, 1920, at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 6 days, being the last one of a family of twelve children.
She came with her family to Crown Point when 16 years of age and commenced teaching when 18. She taught about 10 years. September 9, 1867, she was united in marriage to John Pearce and to them were born 5 children, 3 died in infancy.
She joined the Baptist church soon after coming to Crown Point and later became a member of the Believers at Lowell. All her life she took an active interest in gospel work, having taught a Sunday school class for many years.
Surviving her are, her husband; daughter, Mrs. Thomas Ross, of Hebron; son Jay M. Pearce, of Lowell; two children, Mrs. Henry Hogan, of Hebron, and Anna Pearce, whom she raised from infancy; several grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday of last week and they were attended by a large number of her old friends and neighbors. Interment was made in the Hebron cemetery. Undertaker Weaver had charge of the burial service.
