A copy of the following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

Anna Pratt was born in Ohio, May 31st, 1824, removed with her parents to Indiana in 1849. Was married to Charles DeWitt on June 5th, 1853.* To this union were born one son and three daughters. She was converted to the Lord Jesus Christ in her youth, and was a faithful consistent Christian, always living in the hope of a blessed immortality beyond the grave, cheered and comforted by the thought of a glorious reunion with husband children and friends in the world to come. She leaves two daughters, five grandchildren, a brother, a sister, and many friends to mourn her loss. She died Nov. 1, 1896,a ged 72 years, 7 months, and 1 day.

* NOTE -- The obituary of Charles DeWitt has June 6, 1851 as their wedding date.
