Mansfield Dickey(1876-1904)
- Mansfield Dickey, youngest son of Volney and Mrs. A.S. Dickey, was born in the township of Yellowhead, Kankakee county, Illinois, April 26th, 1876. He was joined in wedlock with Miss Anna Stadt, of the same county and state, at Kankakee city, Ill., January 31, 1898. Two lovely little girls, one five and the other nearly three years old, were the issues of this wedlock.
At the age of 28 years, one month and six days, Mansfield Dickey departed this life at the home of his uncle, Wesley Pattee, near Lowell, Lake Co., Ind., June 2d, 1904; his untimely demise being due to that dread disease called diabetes. Funeral service and burial took place at Sherburnville Saturday afternoon, June 4th, and were conducted by Harry E. Tucker, Christian minister from Chicago Heights. A large assemblage of relatives and friends who shed the tears of sympathy for his comely wife and lovely little girls, his aged father and mother and numerous near relatives and friends, were present.
Mansfield was baptized, upon the confession of faith in the Christ as his Savior and Son of God, at the age of 11 years, by Bro. J.S. Clemens, a Christian minister officiating at Sherburnville, Ill. Although separated by removal from the church of his choice he has lived a consistent and exemplary life, never has swerved from his faith in the Christ, and by his general deportment has commanded the respect of those best acquainted with him. He was social, kind and clean tongued, he had no bad habits, therefore much sympathy was extended, for which we, his father and mother, wish to extend our heartfelt thanks.
