Harrison O. Snell
- Harrison O. Snell, 71, of Lowell, passed away Friday, May 5, 1995. He is survived by his wife Lula; two sons, Edwin (Arlene) Snell of Lowell and Larry (Linda) Snell of Lowell; one daughter, Sherry "Susie" Caroll of Vernon HIlls, Illinois; five grandchildren, Darla (Tom) Schild of Phoenix, Arizona, David (Charlotte) and Douglas Snell, both of Lowell, Claire and Chelsea Caroll of Vernon Hills, Illinois; one great-grandchild, Collin Schild, of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers, James (Judy) Huesten and Woodrow (Dolores) Huesten, both of Bloomington, Indiana; two sisters, Sharon (Roger) Mahan of Bloomfield, Indiana, and Bonnie (Joe) Ashcraft of Lyons, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 8, 1995, at 11 a.m. at the West Creek Cemetery in Lowell with Pastor John K. Wortinger officiating.
Mr. Snell was former owner of Snell Chevrolet-Pontiac, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, past director of Lowell Chamber of Commerce, Lowell Chamber of Commerce "Person of the Year" (1981). Mr. Snell was a World War II veteran, past commander and member of the American Legion Lowell Post No. 101 and member of V.F.W. Post #6841, a charter member and past president of Lowell Rotary. He contrubuted $500 to scholarship fund to Lowell High School for the past 5 years. A member and officer of the Lake County Dealer's Association and a member of antique auto clubs. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lowell Chamber of Commerce Building Fund and St. Anthony's Hospice. Sheets Funeral Home, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell, in charge of arrangements.

Harrison Snell Was Community Leader
The Lowell community lost a civic and business leader last weekend with the passing of Harrison O. Snell.
Snell, 71, died Fri., May 5, after a long battle with cancer. Graveside services were held May 8 at West Creek Cemetery in Lowell, with Pastor John K. Wortinger of the First United Methodist Church in Lowell officiatiing.
Former owner of Snell Chevrolet-Pontiac auto dealership in Lowell, Harrison Snell was a member and past officer of the Lake County Auto Dealers Assn. and enjoyed an active role in antique auto clubs.
A past president and director of the Lowell Chamber of Commerce, Snell was concerned with the development of the business community and the orderly growth of the Town of Lowell. In 1981 he was honored as Lowell Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year and cited for his 23 years of business leadership, as well as his civic involvement.
A military veteran of World War II, Snell was a past commander of American Legion Post No. 101 and held membership in both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6841 in Lowell.
He was also a charter member and past president of the Lowell Rotary Club and capped his interest in youth activities by contributing $500 to a scholarship fund at Lowell High School for the past five years.
Always ready with a smile and a handshake, Harrison Snell was devoted to his family and enjoyed his community involvement as much as serving his customers with a 'hometown touch.'
He is survived by his wife, Lula Snell; two sons, Edwin (Arlene) Snell and Larry (Linda) Snell, both of Lowell; one daughter, Sherry 'Susie' Caroll of Vernon Hills, Ill.; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, two sisters, and other relatives.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lowell Commerce Building Fund or St Anthony's Hospice.
