The following newspaper article, hand identified as being from the Mar. 28, 1955, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    Louis Helitz, 65, Dies Suddenly

    Louis Herlitz, 65, of R.R. 4, Cedar Lake, fell dead Wednesday while attending a cattle auction at the Lowell Sale Barn.

    Mr. Herlitz, a farmer, lived his lifetime on the farm where he was born, located just behind the Eller Funeral Home.

    Memorial services will be held at the Eller Funeral Home Saturday, March 26, at 2 p.m. Rev. Orville Glass will officiate, and burial will be in Maplewood cemetery, Crown Point.

    His wife is deceased, and survivors include a son, Louis R., at home, and a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Carlson, of Calumet City; three sisters, the Misses Mary and Lora Herlitz of Hammond, and Mrs. Martin Howkinson of Cedar Lake; and a brother, William Herlitz, of Beecher, Illinois.
