Lee Childress
A Pretty Wedding
A pretty wedding occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hayden Wednesday evening, February 21, at 6:30 o'clock, when their eldest daughter, Eva Mary, became the bride of Lee Childress, to the strains of the wedding march, played by Miss Vera Smith. Unattended, the young people took their places in the doorway, between the two large living rooms, where Rev. J.T. Dodds was waiting, and in a dignified manner he pronounced the words that made them husband and wife, using the ring ceremony. The bride was daintily attired in white charmeuso with georgette and lace trimmings. She carried a beautiful bouquet. The bride is an attractive young lady and presented a beautiful appearance upon this happy occasion. She has hosts of friends with whom she is very popular for her many lovable qualities.
The groom was attired in a dark suit and presented an attractive appearance standing beside the girl of his choice. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Childress, of Lowell, and is a splendid young man. He and his bride will live on one of his father's farms near Lowell.
There were thirty-six relatives present to witness the pretty ceremony and enjoy the wedding spread, which consisted of pressed veal, potato salad, rolls, pickles, ice cream, cakes and coffee, and was served by friends of the bride, Misses Vera Forberger, Vera Smith, Messrs. Neal Smith and Roy Burnett.
The presents were many and beautiful.
The happy young couple left amid a shower of rice and good wishes for Lafayette and other points.
