The following May 22, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, columns 4-6:

    Ethel Enocksen to Report for WAC Examination

    Ethel Enocksen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Enocksen, of route 1, Cedar Lake, reports to Indianapolis May 27 for her WAC physical examination, Ethel, who will be graduated May 23 from Lowell high school, enlisted March 29, her 18th birthday and if she is accepted, will receive her basic training at Fort Lee, Virginia.

    Ethel's school activities include membership in the Home Ec Club, chorus, and G.A.A. She served on the staff of the Lowellette and helped with the yearbook, and also found enough time to play shortstop for the Cedar Lake "Chicks" softball team.

    This year marks Ethel's 10th in 4-H work and she holds the office of secretary-treasurer for the Hanover Haymakers and is president of the Lincoln 4-H club.

    ETHEL ENOCKSEN HONORED BEFORE DEPARTURE TO FT. LEE

    On Sunday, May 25, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Enocksen of Lincoln School road, Cedar Lake, honored their daughter, Ethel, with a graduation and farewell party at their home.

    Guests for the late evening dinner were Mr. and Mrs. John Steinstrom of Chicago; Mrs. John Rosinko and daughter, Miss Carol Rosinko, Mrs. Karen Enocksen, all of Dyer; Roy Barnhardt, Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Klein, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Groat, Mr. and Mrs. Francis West and children, all of Hammond; Mr. and Mrs. John Murray, Gloria and Richard of South Holland, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Bud Martine and daughter, Barbara Jean, Mrs. Alma Martine of Lansing, Ill.; Mrs. Ruth Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Parker, Mr. and Mrs. E. Fredregill, Mrs. Alma Petrie, Mrs. Ada Turnquist, Miss Ellen Turnquist, Emil Gerold and son, David, Mr. and Mrs. Lamoin Brumbaugh, David and Billy, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Heldt and Terry, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Hanson and Edwin and Miss Lois Hanson, all of Cedar Lake; also, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Enocksen and daughters, Betty and Ellen.

    Ethel received many beautiful gifts and remembrances.

    After taking examinations at Indianapolis and passing them, she left immediately for Ft. Lee, Va., where she will take basic training as a WAC.

    Ethel was graduated May 23rd from Lowell high school.


This June 19, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
    Pvt. Ethel Enocksen WA8507114, Co. B, Basic Trng, 2004 ASU, WAC Training Center, Fort Lee, Virginia, is a new address which Ethel sends to her many Lowell friends, hoping to hear from them. Ethel graduated from L.H.S. this spring.

This August 7, 1952, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 2, column 1:
    Ethel Enocksen of Cedar Lake, graduate of Lowell high, class of '52, is enjoying a ten-day leave at home. She will leave August 12th for Camp Breckenridge, Ky., where she will enroll in an advanced typing class. Upon completion, Ethel will apply for overseas duty.

The following August 21, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 4:
    A new address comes to Lowell friends from Pvt. Ethel Enocksen, WA 8507114: WAC Detachment, 101st Airborne Div., Camp Breckinridge, Ky.

This October 16, 1952, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 3:
    Pvt. Ethel Enocksen, stationed at Camp Breckinridge, Ky., recently enjoyed having her sister, Betty, as a weekend guest.
