The following article was found in the March 16, 1944, Lowell Tribune on page 2, column 2:

    MEETS DEATH IN ENGLAND

    Word received by Mr. and Mrs. Thorne Clark from his brother, Elwood, informs them of the death of the latter's son, Lt. Richard Clark, 22, who was killed in the crash of a troop carrier plane in England. No further particulars were received. The young man was well known here, having made his home here and in Gary for two year prior to his enlistment in the air corps 2-1/2 years ago. He had been in England only during the past few months.
