Julia C. Lawrence Morgan (1859-1926)

- Julia C. Morgan, nee Lawrence, beloved wife of Wesley Morgan, of Crichton, Alabama, departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F.J. Young, of Chicago, Ill., on October 4, 1926. Interment at Lowell, Ind. Her age was 67 years.
Mrs. Morgan was a daughter of a former well known resident, Geo. W. Lawrence, Sr., and wife, and with three brothers and one sister grew to womanhood in Lowell. Of this family only two brothers remain -- George W. Lawrence, of Urbana, Ill., and Douglas A. Lawrence, of Quebec, La. Mrs. Morgan was always noted for her cheerful, happy disposition, and as a little girl and all through life she loved to join in the social life, including the old Methodist Sunday school and church of Lowell. The Sunday school and church were her especial delight, often playing the organ and leading in work of this kind. Educated in Lowell school[s] and later at Crown Point, she qualified as a teacher and taught several country school[s] in the neighborhood of Lowell.
In 1880 she joined in marriage Wesley Morgan, then a young man of Lowell, who still survives. To this union were born one son and three daughters, the son and one daughter passed away in early infancy, two daughters, Nellie M. Frain and Mae M. Young, remain residents of Chicago.
In 1883, with her husband, they changed their home to Chicago. Here her sunny disposition and friendly nature attracted new acquaintances that became loving neighbors and on joining the Golden Rod Chapter O.E.S., the circle of dear friends still further increased, all of whom did all they could to cheer her life with tributes of love and esteem.
For the past fifteen years she has made her home in the south at Crichton, Alabama, but spending a large part of that time visiting her daughters in Chicago.
Always thoughtful for the welfare and happiness of those near her the loss is keenly felt and hard to bear, yet we are comforted in the belief that she held that we will meet again in the better and happier life to come.
