Mabel Elvira Bradley
YOUNG GIRL A VICTIM OF AUTO ACCIDENT
INSTANTLY KILLED WHEN CAR HITS TRUCK IN WHICH SHE WAS RIDING
Another fatal auto accident occurred on road 41, just south of Cook, last Saturday night when Miss Mabel Elvira Bradley, who lived with her parents south of Cook, was instantly killed when a car collided with a truck in which she was riding.A neighbor, Karl Scott, was driving the truck. He had been to the Bradley home to take some water, and the young lady, who was 19 years of age, was returning home with him. He was driving north and the car that hit the truck was traveling in the same direction. When Scott got to the place to turn to go to his home he had to cross the road and the driver behind, not seeing what he was going to do, collided with the truck. J.A. Robison, 1404 Jonquil Ave., Chicago, was the driver of the car that collided with the truck. The young lady suffered a fractured skull and was otherwise badly bruised. Mr. Scott escaped with only a few bruises.
The Sheriff's office and Dr. Franklin Petry, deputy Coroner, were notified of the accident and were soon on the scene. The Sheriff took Mr. Robison in charge and went to Crown Point with him, where he could be questioned. The accident was, without doubt, unavoidable, but the Sheriff wanted to question Mr. Robison about his car and his residence. The car was purchased in Ohio, bore a Kansas license and the man lives in Chicago. The car was taken to Sam's garage, where it was to be held until inquest is held by Dr. Petry.
The body of the young lady was brought to the Weaver & Son funeral home in Lowell and prepared for burial. Funeral services were held in Chicago, the former home of the family, yesterday and the remains were brought back to Lowell for interment in charge of Weaver & Son.
