Anthony J. Kroeger (1880-1937)
- . . . July 6, 1880, at Mendota, Ill. He was ordained June 27, 1914, by the Rt. Rev. Herman J. Alerding, Bishop of Fort Wayne, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, after finishing his college and seminary courses at St. Meinrad Abbey, St. Meinrad, Indiana.
His first appointment was that of assistant at St. Mary's parish at Decatur, but owing to ill health he was relieved of active duty and granted a leave of absence in 1920. Later he was appointed Chaplain of St. Josephs' hospital at Logansport. On July 17, 1925, he became pastor of St. Patrick's Church, Oxford, Ind., where he remained two years before coming to St. Edward's parish, Lowell, as pastor in 1927.
Rev. Kroeger is survived by his mother, Mrs. August Kroeger, of Aurora; a brother, Leo, also of Aurora; an aunt, Mrs. Veronica Kroeger, of Logansport; and many cousins in the Logansport deanery.
