Georgia May Hoshaw Denny (1886-1920)

Georgia May Hoshaw Denny (1886-1920)
(Mrs. Townsend E. Denny)

The following September 30, 1920, Lowell Tribune article was found in on page 1, column 3:
    Georgia May Hoshaw was born February 22, 1886, in Cedar Creek Township, Lowell, Ind. She was a graduate of the Common school and attended High school for a time, but not being very strong, was compelled to give up her work. She then took up music and spent much of her time at home with her parents.

    On December 15, 1908, she was united in marriage with Townsend E. Denny, of Kankakee, Ill., and they have since made their home on a farm in Aroma Township near Waldron, Ill. To this union were born three children, William Allen, Cora Ethel and little Leah Rose.

    Suffering and ill health has been her lot for the last few years, but she bore it all patiently and without complaint. September 6th Mrs. Denny submitted to a serious operation at the hospital and it was thought she would recover, but on the eighth day a sudden change for the worse came, and in spite of medical skill, the loving care of her husband, father, brothers and sister-in-law, who were with her constantly, it seemed her call had come, and at 11:30 a.m. September 16, 1920, she quietly slipped away, at the age 34 years, 8 months and 23 days.

    Mrs. Denny's neighbors and friends spoke of her home life as all that was pure and beautiful. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, three children, father, mother, two sisters, Mrs. B.D. Hayden, of Crown Point, Mrs. John Shultz, of Schereville, Ind.; three brothers, Will, Clarence and Floyd Hoshaw, all of Crown Point; an aged grand-father, several uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of sorrowing friends and neighbors.

    Funeral services were held Saturday, September 18 at 2:30 in the Waldron church. Interment in the Aroma cemetery.

      Resting from all that is earthly,
      Gone on a little before;
      Called to the beauties of heaven,
      Wakened to life evermore.

      We will miss her smile, and her friendship,
      Her voice and her loving hand,
      She was ready to meet her redeemer,
      In that wonderful, higher land.

      The Lord is our tender Shepherd.
      He loveth and cares for his own;
      He will help us to walk in his foot-steps,
      And meet round the heavenly throne.
