Corwin Dodd (1842-1920)
Death of Former Resident
Corwin Dodd, a former resident of this place, but for many years has made his home in Beloit, Kansas, died in that city October 31, 1920, at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 18 days.He was married in Lowell, Ind., January 28, 1869, to Miss Mary Martin, daughter of Anthony Martin, Ten children were born to them, seven of whom with their mother survive the deceased. He leaves one brother, Alfred Dodd, of San Pierre, Ind., and one sister, Mrs. Mary Shaffer, of LaPorte, Ind.
The Beloit paper says of him as a citizen:
- "In the death of Corwin Dodd this community loses one of its very best citizens, a man who was deeply loved by his near ones, and who had the implicit trust and sincere respect of all who knew him as a real man in every way that the word implies. It may truly be said that Corwin Dodd never had an enemy, and that those who knew him best loved him most."
