This August 30, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found page 1, column 5:
    Mrs. O.D. Applegate recently received an interesting letter from Ed Fischer, who is well known in Lowell, having made his home with the Applegates. He is stationed at Feamcom Air Base in Japan and makes daily trips to Korea on air evacuation missions. Ed was one of the first 100 air men to be sent to Korea on the rotation plan. He is now completing studies for an aero medical degree. Lowell friends should address correspondence to Cpl. Ed Fischer, AF 16314636, APO 323-2, c/PM, San Francisco, Calif.
