The following February 28, 1929, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 5:

    DEATH OF FORMER RESIDENT

    Ben Lynch received a message Monday from Dr. W.V. Gooder, of Marengo, Ill., announcing the death of Mrs. Gooder on Sunday. The cause of death was pneumonia. Funeral services were held at Marengo, Tuesday, and burial was made at Dixon, Ill.

    Mrs. Gooder formerly lived here with her husband and they left here fourteen years ago and located in Marengo, where they have since made their home. During her residence in Lowell she made many warm friends who will sincerely regret to hear of her death and the friends of Dr. Gooder here at his old home will join with us in extending sympathy in his hour of sorrow.
