The following June 22, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:

    Missing In Action

    Word has been received here that Lt. Charles Hildebrandt, of Santa Monica, Calif., is missing in action over France. A son of the Harvey Hildebrandts, former residents here, Charles was born in Lowell, going to the California city with his parents when a small child. He had been overseas since March. No further word has been received since the first telegram from the war department arrived.
