Charles Kenney

A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as coming from the April 4, 1940, Lowell Tribune, was found in the Lowell Public Library's clipping files:

TWO FORMER CITIZENS IN A BAD ACCIDENT

CHARLES KENNEY DIES IN GARY HOSPITAL. FRANK EBERT BRUISED.

Two former citizens, Charles Kenney and Frank Ebert, both of Crown Point, had a bad accident Tuesday night of last week when their cars came together north of the T.B. Sanitorium. They were driving in opposite directions and the Ebert car struck ice on the pavement and left the road, and in attempting to get it back on the road the car got cross ways of the road and the Kenney car crashed into it.

Mr. Kenney suffered several broken ribs and a punctured lung, caused from being pinned under the steering wheel of his car. He was taken to Gary M.E. Hospital, where it was found that his injuries were very serious. Twelve hours after he entered the hospital pneumonia developed and he only lived two days.

Mr. Ebert was badly bruised, but none of his injuries were serious, and he was able to return to his home.

Funeral services for Charles Kenney were held at the Weaver funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m., in charge of Rev. W.L. Hargrave. Interment in Orchard Grove cemetery.
