The following April 4, 1929, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 3:
    Mrs. Pelham, mother of Mrs. C.A. Brown, passed away suddenly at her home at Kalamazoo, Mich., on Wednesday of last week. She was only sick about fifteen minutes. Mrs. Pelham was quite well known to many of our people, having visited her daughter and husband here many times during the pastorate of Rev. Brown. She was a woman who was highly respected by all who know her. Funeral services were held at Chesterton Friday afternoon.

    The following from Lowell attended the funeral services: Paul Hathaway and wife, Niles Clement and wife, Mrs. Schilling, Mrs. Franklin Petry, Miss Nora Clark, Mrs. V.V. Hackley, Mrs. VanDuerson and daughter Ruth, Miss Midred Foster, Mrs. Volney Foster, Mrs. Ed Ebert, Mrs. J.A. Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bailey, Mrs. Earl Bailey.
