The following March 14, 1968, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 8, column 4:
    Army Private Clyde G. Sawyer, 20, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis W. Darnell, live on Route 7, Crown Point, Ind., completed a cooking course at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo, Feb. 2.

    During the eight-week course, he was trained in meat cutting plus cake and pastry baking. He also learned how to prepare and serve food in Army mess halls and in the field.
