Rev. M.N. Stoltz

Rev. M.N. Stoltz

The following article was found in the June 8, 1872, Lowell Star on page 5, column 2:
Rev. Mr. Stoltz was to fill the appointments in the place of Presiding Elder Mikels, at West Creek, last Saturday and Sunday, but the accident recorded elsewhere, deterred him from filling the appointment and he was obliged to return home to Crown Point.
Other information, from the same page of the paper, was found in column 3:
Ed. Curtis hitched the kicking mare that played the deuce with Revs. Stoltz and Harrison to a sulky the same day. The mare probably thought it was a piece of unpardonable impudence, as she strung the sulky right and left in a short time.

Rev. M.N. Stoltz, Pastor of the M.E. Church at Crown Point, took the longest way around to reach the Ministerial Association last week. He started right, but for reasons given below, changed direction and went by way of Chicago. Taking the train at Crown Point, he in due time reached Lacross, the New Albany crossing, where he was compelled to wait for the train going north on the other road. It came, and after assisting a lady to get on, Mr. S. noticed that the car next back was a much finer one, and being a firm believer in always appropriating the best of everything, he took up his satchel and, walking back, entered the car. As it was empty, he congratulated himself in securing a good seat and patiently waited the start. Looking out at last, he saw the train fast disappearing and himself switched off. -- Valparaiso Vidette.
