The following newspaper article, hand-dated as being from the June 10, 1954, Tribune was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    JACK TAYLOR OFFICIALLY APPOINTED NIGHT PATROLMAN

    Highlights of the June meeting of the Town Board held Monday evening included the purchase of a new 1954 Chevrolet Police car, and a new tractor with stone loading equipment to speed up street repair operations.

    Jack Taylor has been officially appointed to assume the duties of night patrolman for Lowell and town residents in need of night time police service are requested to dial Lowell 2731.
