Frank M. Vinnedge (1844-1920)
Death of Former Resident
Frank M. Vinnedge was born near South Bend, Ind., March 17, 1844, and passed away November 28, 1920, at his home in Brooks, Iowa, at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 6 days. The cause of his death was paralysis. When a child Mr. Vinnedge moved with his parents to Creston, Ind. At the age of 17 he enlisted in Co. F. of the 7th cavalry, and served in the army during the war. He was married to Miss Emma Gregg, October 14, 1869. To this union three children were born, two of them, Otto E., who resides in British Columbia, Canada, and Silas F., of Boulder, Colo., together with their mother survive him. He moved to Iowa in 1881 and has since made his home in that state. He leaves two brothers, Thomas Vinnedge, of Creston, and James Vinnedge, of Zion City, Ill.Mr. Vinnedge was a member of the Odd Fellows and his burial was in charge of that order. The Brooks paper says of Mr. Vinnedge: "He was a very pleasant old gentleman and always had a kindly greeting for anyone whom he chanced to meet, and none enjoyed a visit better than he; he was always chock full of good cheer, good humor, and a sprinkling of old-fashioned wit; it was always a pleasure to meet him."
The deceased will be remembered by many of our older citizens, who will regret to hear of his death.
