Son and Grandsons in Service
In conversation with Mrs. Samuel Sirois of Shelby, she gave us information on the whereabouts of her son and two grandsons, who are in the service. Her son, Samuel, Jr. is attending officers' training school, at Camp Croft, S. C. Her grandson, Cpl. William Dorsch is a member of the 318th infantry band at Camp Forrest, Miss., and his brother, Pvt. Adam Dorsch is attending machinists' school at the Kansas City air field.This Lowell Tribune article was found in the February 24, 1944, issue (page 2, column 1):

Awarded Good Conduct Medal
Myrtle Beach Army Air Field, S.C. -- Sgt. Adam H. Dorsch, formerly of Lowell, now serving with the 3rd air forces at Myrtle Beach army air field, S.C., has been awarded the AAF Good Conduct Medal, headquarters has announced.Sgt. Dorsch, 21, entered the army at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, and completed his basic training at Atlantic City, New Jersey. He has attended the National School of Aeronautics at Kansas City, Mo.
He attended Lowell high school, graduating in 1940, and prior to entering the army, was employed as a clerk-expediter, by the Pullman Standard Car Mfg. Co. He is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Sirois, Sr., of Shelby, and has a brother, J.W. Dorsch, in service with the air force at Santa Ana, California.
