Agnes Janet Nielson Strickhorn (1878-1918)

- Agnes Janet Neilson was born May 27, 1878, in McLean county, Ill. She was united in marriage to John Strickhorn, April 16, 1906, at Reddick, Ill. She passed away at her home near Shelby, February 28, 1918, at the age of 39 years, 9 months and 1 day.
To this union were born six children -- three girls and three boys -- the youngest son passed away two years ago.
Mrs. Strickhorn confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized fifteen years ago. She has led a Christian life and although [she] has been called from this life, her life remains as an example. Her death will leave a great vacancy in the home and the entire community.
There remain to mourn her departure her husband and the five children, father, two brothers and four sisters, together with other relatives and a large number of close friends.
The funeral was held at the home, Monday, at 11 a.m. Nathan Worley, assisted by H.K. Woerner, of Shelby, preached the funeral sermon. After the services at the home the remains were brought to Lowell and burial took place in the Lowell cemetery.
The following people from Shelby sang several songs: Mrs. J.C. Rumsey, Mrs. Ed. Peterson and Mrs. Maude Dehner. Undertaker Weaver had charge of the burial services. The following acted as pall bearers: Henry Tyler, Joshua Tyler, Hugh G. Tyler, Jacob __ Woerner, Earl Patchett and Sam Schultz.
The entire community join in extending sympathy to the widowed husband and motherless children.
