The following newspaper article, hand-identified as being in the June 24, 1954, issue of the Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    Albert A. Gard, 74, Dies at Tazares, Fla.

    Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 26, at 9 a.m. in Holy Name church at Cook for Albert A. Gard, 74, who died Sunday, June 20, at his home in Tazares, Florida, after a brief illness.

    Mr. Gard is a former resident of Cedar Lake, a member of St. Martin's Holy Name society, and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

    Survivors include two brothers, Levi of Lowell, and Edwin of Tazares, Florida, and two sisters, Clara Schreiber of Cook, and Mrs. Mary Peters of Hammond.

    Father J. Wonderly will officiate at services and burial will be in the church cemetery.

    Friends are invited to call at Geisen's Funeral Home, Crown Point, after 6 p.m. today.
